Peter Palagi

While I'm at it, I meant to comment on the ice cream truck. Is it my imagination or am I correct in recalling that our late, sorely missed classmate, Denny O'Brien, drove one of those trucks ( not Palagi's) during the summer ? I have a recollection of talking with him in the truck while he was "on his route" somewhere in Darlington. His main complaint was not the kids or the stupid song that constantly played over and over, but the tons of change that he had to go home every night and count and roll before starting out the next day.

Pawtucket pictures

The picture of "Sully's Pub" may be more familiar to our generation if the earlier name of "The Hitching Post" was used. It was the bar and restaurant of my uncle, Joe McNally, across from Prospect Heights at the intersection of Prospect St. and Beverage Hill Ave. It was the site of the short lived career that my soon-to-be wife and I had as wait staff. ( Although she did continue as a waitress in Falmouth. ) The Hitching Post had great Italian food prepared by Mrs. Olobri whose son, Charley, starred in football at Tolman and later at Brown. A later chef whose "gravy " was too spicy for my taste was a veteran of WW II , but on the Italian side ! Great memories ! Thanks John.. 🤡

Merry Christmas, from Dave Shallcross

As much as 2020 deserves to be put among the lowest years of my fond memories list, the 60th Reunion of our class has to be at the very top or close to it. So many friendships were rekindled, not that they didn't exist, but because they gained a new emphasis, and the Class of 1960 excelled by celebrating our unity while enduring the pandemic of our lifetime.

Since then I have received many contacts from classmates and appreciated each and every one of them. Thank you.  I'd like to share something I received last week. I didn't write it although I did some editing with you in mind. Merry Christmas!

Pictures for the blog

These two pictures generated a lot of conversation between a few of us last month.  A user on Facebook, David Lawler, created this collage from his pictures of old buildings in Pawtucket,Central Falls and other nearby towns. Pawtucket Hometown Memories is the name of the group. If you are interested, I can send you an invitation.

The second picture of Peter Palagi's truck brought back lots of memories.  Please let us know if you recognize any of the buildings. Also, share some of your "Ice Cream Man" memories!
